Client presentation
Large French luxury house, our client manufactures numerous leather products in its various workshops. From the inspection upon receipt of treated and cut skins, to the inspection of printed and embossed leather pieces, ensuring high quality is a top priority for this major luxury brand.
Quality at the center of concerns.
In its leather workshops, the manufacturing and sourcing of raw materials for our client are becoming increasingly complex as the range of designs diversifies. As a result, the number of steps in the leather pieces manufacturing processes is increasing. The same applies to associated quality controls. Often a sign of great care in the production of luxury goods, quality control is most often manual in major houses. However, at very early stages of leather goods production, such as the inspection of skins and cut leathers, our client has sought to automate this process in order to avoid detecting defects once the product is finished.
The client's objectives
Automate 100% of the visual quality control of skins before sewing.
Inspect skins of size 400 mm x 400 mm
Detect printing defects as well as defects on the leather (lack of printing, embossing offset, lack of embossing, lack of dyeing, poor printing, leather defects).
Inspection of skins with varying appearance
The solution: Spark Multi View
To achieve these goals, Scortex has implemented its AI-based automated quality inspection solution, Spark, on a fixed quality control station, and has enabled:
Automation of quality inspection on leather before stitching
High performance inspection thanks to Spark's artificial intelligence
Premium access to the Customer Success team for on-site deployment of the Spark solution and support for leveraging the quality data collected by the Spark stations.
Access to all data generated by the deployed Spark stations on the production lines via its Web Quality Center platform (real-time quality analysis, inspection report history, root cause analysis).
The Results
Detection of 100% of quality specification defects
Automated quality decision
Defect localization stored in the Web Quality Center platform for reporting and analysis
Lower Spark error rate than operator error rate
"The installation of the Spark control station in the sorting area has simplified the control of our operators and increased the cadences"
