European beauty industry actor experiencing increasing demand for manufacturing products packaged in glass bottles. The client must double its volumes every year.

On production lines for Class 3 medical injectable products, quality issues are significant. Due to consumer safety constraints, any quality decision error regarding the vials has an impact. Additionally, the client must detect numerous defects at the production rate (crimping, glass cracks, foreign objects in the liquid), while minimizing false rejections due to reflections or imperfections on the glass vials. Currently, inspections are carried out by operators. The sorting performed by them is very effective, but the capacity cannot increase as quickly as production volumes. Visual inspection has therefore become a bottleneck that needs to evolve in order not to penalize the company.

  • Detection of 100% of crimping defects and presence of foreign bodies

  • Limited rejection rate of good parts around 10% of all rejected parts
