Spark allows for the automation of visual inspection for injectable beauty products
100%
appearance defects and presence / absence detected
100%
of the rejection rate controlled and maintained at the same level
Client presentation
European beauty industry actor experiencing increasing demand for manufacturing products packaged in glass bottles. The client must double its volumes every year.
Quality at the center of concerns.
On production lines for class 3 injectable medical products, quality issues are significant. Due to the constraints of securing consumers, the slightest error in decision regarding the quality of vials has an impact.
Additionally, the client has numerous defects to detect at the pace (crimping, glass cracks, foreign bodies in the juice), while limiting false rejections due to reflections or imperfections on glass vials.
Currently, the inspections are carried out by operators. The sorting done by them is very effective but the capacity cannot increase as quickly as production volumes. Visual inspection has thus become a bottleneck that must evolve to avoid penalizing the company.
The client's objectives
Detection of 100% of crimping defects and presence of foreign bodies
Limited rejection rate of good parts around 10% of all rejected parts
Target speed of 1 second per vial

The solution: Spark Multi View
To achieve these goals, Scortex has implemented its automated quality inspection solution with AI, Spark, and has enabled:
The implementation of an automated quality control system at 2 control stations: 1 station with a back-light camera for particle detection, and a station with 2 cameras for the detection of crimping defects
Support for deployment by a dedicated Customer Success team to secure detections
Quality inspection process with AI trained from only 30 compliant pieces while capitalizing on the expertise of operators
Detection of defects despite light reflections on glass bottles
The Results
100% of appearance defects and presence/absence detected
Rejection rate maintained at the current rate
Doubled rate during the current year
