Client presentation
French industrialist in the formulation and packaging of phytosanitary products. He has on his production site, numerous packaging lines and formats (plastic jerrycans). The teams on the production site are in search of innovations and aim to optimize processes on a daily basis.
Quality at the center of concerns.
Despite a high degree of automation for large-scale production in liquid manufacturing, visual inspection during drum packaging is still manually carried out by line operators at our client's site. The limited visibility of product spillages on the containers makes defects difficult to identify within the allocated time for this task. As the abnormalities are located around the perimeter, single-camera systems are insufficient for these inspections. Given the substantial production volumes, any undetected error has a significant impact. Operator fatigue resulting from the visual inspection conducted alongside other line operation tasks has led to the dispatch of contaminated drums, sometimes affecting up to 20% of the production. Quality controls are costly, and the cleaning procedure is drastic in cases of contamination. It was necessary to find a robust solution for product inspection and optimization of filling parameters.
The client's objectives
Unload operators from visual inspection of operators, so that they can focus on other line management tasks.
Switch from manual quality control to 100% automated control
Inspect from all sides of the cans to avoid contaminations
Reduce the number of procedures initiated for cleaning the cans in case of pollution
Adopt a flexible quality control system that adapts to various types of containers.
Reduce non-quality impacting the customer
The solution: Spark Multi View
To achieve these goals, Scortex has implemented its AI-powered automated quality inspection solution, Spark Multi View, equipped with multiple cameras, and has enabled:
Automation of quality inspection on production lines
Reduction of operator workload
Inspection of cans from multiple viewing angles simultaneously, thanks to the Spark Multi View system.
Inspection of a wide variety of containers thanks to Spark's rapid adaptability of AI
The Results
100% of automated quality control
Demonstration of our client's culture of innovation during visits from their customers.
Reduced workload for operators so they can focus on other high value-added tasks at the production site.
Reduction in the number of contaminated containers (20% of total production)
Inspection of all sides of the containers in a single pass on the conveyor
Rapid decision-making on quality according to the quality specifications indicated by the client (OK / NOK)
Securing risks of external container pollution
Rhythm: 1 second / piece
Changing containers without significant downtime thanks to Spark's continuous AI learning
"Spark is very easy to grasp. It doesn't show on other systems”
